Lots of firsts
Mila has had lots of firsts lately. As Zak already reported, we took her to the Outer Banks this past weekend. This was not only her first trip to the Outer Banks, but her first trip anywhere (aside from a quick day trip to Richmond a while back). And turns out she's a great traveler.
She wasn't terribly excited to find herself in the car at bedtime on Friday, but she quickly adjusted and eventually fell asleep. On top of an easy drive, we had an easy transfer into her crib at Grandma Jaye and Grandpa Spencer's beach house. And an easy drive back today.
Down at the beach, we had lots more firsts: MQ's first look at the Atlantic Ocean, her first taste of mango (which she loves), and her first ride on the baby swing. Here are some photos from my camera, but I know Zak'll be posting more later in the week!

Thanks, Grandma Jaye and Grandpa Spencer, for a wonderful weekend. We look forward to many more trips to the Outer Banks with MQ -- and especially to seeing the entire Lambert family down there in August.
In the meantime, we can't wait to see Uncle Evan and Aunt Julie in Charlottesville this coming weekend. It'll be the first time they've seen MQ since late January!

P.S. Forgot to report last week that MQ had her six-month checkup. She's holding strong at the 75th percentile -- she's 27 inches tall and weighs 16 1/2 pounds.

This baby loves to swing
Right down the street from Grandma & Grandpa Lambert's house on Sea Oats Trail is a little playground, complete with a baby swing. MQ is just a little too small for it, but her will is strong and Grandma had the bright idea of stuffing a couple of towels in there with her. I think she liked it, but see for yourself:

Weekend with Grandma Jaye and Grandpa Spencer
We had a wonderful weekend with Grandma Jaye and Grandpa Spencer. It had been a couple months since they'd seen Mila, so she had lots to show them!
We spent plenty of time wiggling in the living room.

On Saturday, we took our weekly trip out to the Blue Mountain Brewery for lunch and a couple beers. We had beautiful weather, as usual. And MQ was a great lunch date!

'

Back at home, MQ sat in her new high chair (care of Grandma Jaye) and tried apples for the first time. She wasn't a big fan, so we hid the apples in sweet potatoes.

And on Sunday, we had a brief wiggle in the backyard with Mila's friend, Shayna, and her mommy, Lisa. The Cohens are moving to New Jersey this week. We miss them already! (And, yes, Mila is pulling Shayn'a hair in the second photo. Sorry, Shayna!)

Mila and I get to spend one last morning with Grandma Jaye and Grandpa Spencer before they head to the beach. But, lucky for us, we'll be joining them there toward the end of the week. I took my first trip to the Outer Banks when I was about MQ's age, so I'm really looking forward to bringing her there!

Happy Daddy's Day!
Mila is a very lucky baby. She gets to spend Father's Day with her daddy and her Grandpa Spencer! (Notice the #1 Dad tie in the second picture -- MQ "made" it!)

Mila also wants to wish her Grandpa Randy a Happy Father's Day! She's looking forward to seeing you again in a couple weeks.

And Happy Father's Day to Great Grandpas Lud and Bill. MQ can't wait to meet you both!

Family portrait
Thanks, Grandpa Randy, for taking this beautiful family portrait. Can't wait to see you and Grammie Nancy again in July! (MQ is very much looking forward to the Yarmouth Clam Festival, although she's bummed she won't be able to partake in the fried clams and lobster rolls. I mean "lobstah" rolls.)
